The Marshall County Attorney is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Marshall County Attorney.
Major Functions:
Prosecution of misdemeanor and some felony matters, including pretrial, trial, and post-trial proceedings.
Representing the State of Iowa and Marshall County in court proceedings.
Assisting law enforcement with investigations and charging decisions, including outside of normal office hours.
Participation in adult drug court treatment program and opportunities for community outreach.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
JD Degree from an accredited law school.
Admission to the bar of the State of Iowa.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Not required to live in Marshall County; must be able to commute to/from Marshall County Courthouse.
Previous prosecution experience is preferable but not required. Law school graduates of 2022 are encouraged to apply.
The Marshall County Attorney's Office represents and advocates on behalf of the State of Iowa and the County of Marshall in criminal prosecutions and civil proceedings. We prosecute felonies and misdemeanors, juvenile matters, mental health commitments, seized property cases, and postconviction relief matters. We work collaboratively with law enforcement, crime victims, and witnesses to pursue justice and enhance community safety. We provide legal support for county offices and participate in community outreach, a drug court program, diversion efforts for veterans, and training for law enforcement.
