Ways you will make an impact:
Provide legal advice to the Advancement team regarding donor and prospect engagement and cultivation for giving opportunities, including drafting Fund agreements, meeting with prospects and advisors, legal research, and consultation with UNF and university staff as appropriate.
Research and review legal issues affecting the organization in the areas of corporate governance, exempt organizations tax, estate planning, real estate, risk management, vendor contracts, human resources, post-secondary education, and legislation.
Conduct due diligence on real estate and other non-cash donations as needed.
Advise staff, university, donors, and other related third parties on legal and practical issues related to charitable giving and appropriate use of charitable funds.
Serve as UNF Assistant Corporate Secretary; assist with the general administrative and management functions of the organization.
Lead complex legal projects that span legal, business, and functional boundaries.
Draft, negotiate, and review routine and complex legal documents and agreements.

What you need:
Minimum Education: JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school or equivalent. Admission to or ability to apply for admission to the Nebraska State Bar Association.
Minimum Experience: 3+ years of experience in corporate and transactional law. Preferred Experience: Real estate, estate planning, taxation, corporate or non-profit, and governance exposure. Exposure to being in-house counsel for an organization.
Prior success in building relationships and communicating with groups of people with diverse personal and professional experiences; strong client service skills.
Demonstrated strong oral, writing, and editing skills.
Discretion in handling confidential and sensitive legal matters.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to meet deadlines while effectively managing multiple tasks.
