Position Overview:
We are seeking experienced, detail-oriented Contract Attorneys to conduct reviews of Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) applications. The attorney will play a key role in ensuring that VAWA self-petitions, adjustment of status requests, and related immigration filings meet legal standards and determine eligibility for VAWA protections. The ideal candidate will possess significant expertise in immigration law—specifically VAWA-related provisions—and have excellent analytical skills to evaluate complex legal matters.
Location: Remote Duration: Contract (Ongoing, with potential for extension) Compensation: $250 per review completed (Minimum 15 reviews per week required)
Key Responsibilities:
Review and analyze VAWA self-petitions (I-360 forms), adjustment of status applications, and other related documents to assess eligibility under the Violence Against Women Act.
Evaluate supporting evidence, including affidavits, police reports, medical records, court documents, and other materials provided by petitioners.
Advise clients on the legal implications of their petitions and outline possible next steps based on VAWA guidelines.
Stay updated on legal developments regarding VAWA, immigration law, and related case law through independent legal research.
Assist with drafting responses to Requests for Evidence (RFEs) or Notices of Intent to Deny (NOID), as applicable.
Collaborate with other attorneys or legal professionals as necessary to ensure comprehensive and accurate legal guidance.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the highest ethical standards when handling sensitive client information.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in immigration law, with a focus on VAWA, family-based immigration, or related areas.
In-depth understanding of VAWA provisions, including eligibility requirements for self-petitions, abuse-based claims, and the legal framework surrounding these cases.
Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
Ability to independently manage a high volume of cases, with a strong focus on meeting deadlines.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal).
Ability to work remotely and manage workload autonomously.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience drafting or reviewing VAWA self-petitions, or related immigration filings.
Spanish proficiency is a plus, but not required.
